Reunited! Vuelta made it safely on a ship from Buenos Aires, Arg to Jacksonville, FL. and it was a smooth transaction at the port. She looks so different without the Patagonia dust covering it 😲 . Jose took Vuelta to the mechanic for a check up before our drive to Ohio where we had an ignition coil replaced. . We got to visit our fabulous friend Wilmari and stay with her at her new place in Orlando. . Wepa!!! 🇵🇷 Officially arrived to Puerto Rico and greeted by familia with delicious comida típica and two certificates for a couples spa day for the travelers emerging from the desert and jungle. Jose’s mom could bare the thought of 9 months of camping in the wilderness. We needed a thorough scrub. Jacuzzi, sauna, massages, facial, mani, pedi, and champagne. Don’t cry for me Argentinaaaaa 🇦🇷 . (Lindsey here) Like most challenges, there’s a physical journey and there’s an internal, personal journey. I had imagined that I would be writing a lot in my journal, digging deep into my past, and discovering my future… straight up, “Reese Witherspoon in ‘Wild’” style. But more than a personal discovery, on this journey, I’ve learned to work in a team. Instead of independent heads, on this trip, we’ve developed roles and truly rely on each other for everything. “Teamwork” is a great buzzword, but it’s actually a lot of hard work. You need to trust your partner, show up to do your part, and keep the goal very clear. . Throughout, José has been fantastic at planning, travel bureaucracy, tracking finances, letting me buy bottles of Malbec, and overall making this trip possible. I’m absolutely in love with this man and so grateful to have him on my team. . Argentina was been good to us: Patagonia was magical and we got engaged in Ushuaia. Flying to Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 and saying ciao to South America👋🏽 . Caminito (little path) in La Boca, Buenos Aires, is covered in color, representing the typical colorful painted houses where European immigrants lived and where Buenos Aires eclectic culture was born. . A large number of Italian immigrants came to Buenos Aires which is why they love pasta, call cerveza “birra”, and have that fabulous Italian twist in their Spanish. . Immigrants used left over paint from the boats that they found at the port to brighten up the neighborhood. . After many days in the wild, it’s exciting to be in this fabulous metropolis city, “the Paris of South America”. . So far, we done 2 walking tours of the city, visited Evita’s grave, walked the San Telmo/Recoleta markets, found our fav emapanadas spot in the San Telmo market a couple blocks from our Airbnb, and watched the Argentine v Iceland game on a the big screen surrounded by fans in the plaza. . AND great times with friends: mate y facturas with @alinemulieri , drinks/dinner with all our British overlanding buddies @rnrontheroad , @travel_beasts , and @followthehound and visited the modern art museum with @isabelbarascout .
